It’s the one day given to you … Today.
Where will your path take you, today?
There are number of “shares” I’ve been contemplating for what remains of my 12 Days of Christmas post series, but last night while reading a post by my friend Scott Hudspeth, wherein he shared a video from TedX San Francisco, I found today’s.
The video Scott shared was a video of Louie Schwartzberg’s presentation before TedX San Francisco earlier this year. “Louie Schwartzberg is an award-winning cinematographer, director, and producer whose notable career spans more than three decades providing breathtaking imagery for feature films, television shows, documentaries and commercials.”
Mr. Schwartzberg starts out the presentation describing his early life and career as a cinematographer before continuing and sharing his interest in and samples of incredible images he’s produced using time-lapse, nature, & aerial photography. They’re something to see, but it’s his segment where he introduces a project that he’s working on, something he introduces as “something remarkable” Happiness Revealed, about appreciation and gratitude, that I found captivating.
Combining Mr. Schwartzberg’s cinematography with the narration and profound message from Brother David Steindl-Rast:
You think this is just another day in your life? It’s not just another day. It’s the one day that is given to you, today. It’s given to you, It’s a gift. It’s the only gift that you have right now … and the only appropriate response is gratefulness. If you do nothing else but to cultivate that response to the great gift that this unique day is; if you learn to respond as if it were the first day in your life and the very last day … then you will have spent this day very well.
