Ever Wonder About the Power of Video?

886So this weekend, my daughter Katy celebrated her 25th birthday … my how time flies!  So I decided to commemorate her quarter century with a video slide show … well, actually I created two of them.  The first thing I did was gather a number of images … then went about the task of identifying music with “child” and/or “daughters” in the title.  Utilizing Windows Movie Maker, I mixed it all together and viola!

I never intended to create two videos.  The second video came about, because I couldn’t get Tim McGraw’s “My Little Girl” out of my mind.  “My Little Girl” was written by Tom Douglas and Tim McGraw, and recorded by Mr. McGraw; first appearing in the Album, “Tim McGraw Reflected: Greatest Hits Volume 2”.  I think every dad would agree, the music and lyrics to that song bring back memories of their daughter(s) and evoke some pretty strong emotion.

It’s also interesting to note that Tom Douglas, according to an article about the songwriter that appeared in the Dallas Morning Star in 1994, had been selling real estate for the 10 years prior to the story being published.  More evidence that people in real estate are passionate!

For me another compelling factor was that Elaine and I had attended Tim McGraw’s concert last July.  What an incredible performance.  I’ve never seen an entertainer deliver like more content, as passionately as Mr. McGraw that evening.  If you get a chance to see him, do it!

So what’s the point, Paul?

Now your personal videos about a home or news you want to share with your mailing list or on your blog may not evoke the same emotion, but they will let your audience get to know you better.  It’s the same for my birthday video for Katy.  Through the use of images and the wonderful music and lyrics by Mr. McGraw and Douglas, these viewers came to understand the deep love and affection I have for my child.

If you’re not already using video to promote your business, what are you waiting for?  If you’d like some help, just let me know.  Other than face-to-face, it’s the best way I know for people to get to know, like and trust you … and we all like to do business with people we know, like, and trust.

Paul

P.S.  Oh … and if you’d like to view the video, you can check it out here:  http://youtu.be/lc8UpN6Rtw8 I’m hoping that Sony ATV Publishing allows the video to remain available.  YouTube sent me a note early Sunday AM, letting me know that YouTube’s software identified that it may have content owned by Sony.  Heck, I hope they use it to promote Mr. McGraw’s music.  We’ll see.
